Disable Background Changing Feature in Windows 7

Well it actually happens many times you have just customized your PC and one of your relatives come, use your computer and shuffle all your settings that includes the nice HD background image you might have found from some awesome website. Well now you cannot stop him from using your PC but yes you can configure your system to not change background image on any command.

Well today we are going to see how actually you can disable the background changing feature in Windows7. This disables automatic change and even the manual change. So if anyone tries to go to the personalize menu if will see the desktop background feature being blacked out and not accessible. So now lets see how it can be done.

  1. Open RUN Dialog by pressing Windows + R key.
  2. Now type gpedit.msc to open the Group Policy Editor.
  3. Now navigate to User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Control Panel > Personalization.

  4. Now in the right hand side window you will see the Prevent Changing Desktop Background option which is Non Configured.
  5. Now just double click that option and choose Enabled and press Apply.

That's it guys now your desktop background changing option will not be accessible normally using the personalization menu, well so no one change your desktop background, now if you ever wanted to change the desktop background simply, make the same option you just configured above to Non Configured and then you would be able to change your desktop background as earlier.
