How to Disable New Primary, Social Tabs in Gmail :)

Gmail recently introduced another update meshing up everything into different section according to your categories they belong to. So now if you were not aware about the labels option in Gmail or you did not knew how to use it then do not worry Gmail has automatically filtered all your mails according to their category, so like if you get any mail from social services like Facebook, Twitter or any other thing that mail will be delivered to the Social section, or if you get any email from services like Flipkart or other one’s that will be delivered to Promotion tab. So basically everything is configured for ease output.

But many people including me are not accepting this update and they just need that older Gmail back, where everything was received right at once place and they did not need to scroll to different tabs for finding their emails, well there is an option to disable these tabs and get that old look right away and the good thing is that option is officially available by Gmail. So you do not need to install any kind of app or tweak or some kind of add-on to do this stuff.

  1. gmail-settings-optionOpen
  2. Now click the settings gear icon and choose Configure Inbox. This option lets you configure your tabs settings.
  3. Now you will see another popup window where all the options will be mentioned like below.
  4. Now just unmark every option like in the image above and then, hit Save.
  5. That’s it now your Gmail will be loaded and you will find that your tabs are gone.
